What an excellent 2026 Alberta Municipalities | Strength in Members Conference and Trade Show! 👏
The Conference started with a little controversy when Premier Danielle Smith referred to the structural relationship between city councils and their Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) as “bananas”, and that larger municipalities might be better off functioning like Provincial Cabinet to enable greater say in operations. It was certainly a common topic of conversation throughout the event.
Great to have our new Executive Advisor, Ken Johnston, former Mayor of City of Red Deer join me during the trade show. We thoroughly enjoyed connecting with familiar faces such as Barry Morishita, consultant, former President of ABMunis and Elected Official. Caught up with Dawn Phillips, CLGM, CAO with the Town of Sylvan Lake, and pleased to meet two new contacts from the Town of McLennan, Mayor Jason Doris and CAO Lorraine Willier. And to the many, many, many Elected Officials, CAOs, and Administration who stopped by for a chat and say hello, THANK YOU!! 🙂
Congratulations to Councillor Kevin Kinzer from the Town of Killam, winner of HumanEdge’s draw prize, a $200.00 “Thank you” Gift Certificate.
